Moebius: The Art of Jean Giraud

Moebius: The Art of Jean Giraud is a museum exhibit and brand identity that I designed in 2022. It features Giraud’s unique “ligne claire” or clear line style.

A simple color scheme and logo let the art take center stage. I used shades of some of my favorite colors Giraud uses in his colored work.

The logo is an infinity symbol in reference to a “mobius strip,” a strip of paper attached to itself in such a way that it only has one continuous, or infinite, surface. The wordmark combines the O and E in the name in the same way as his signature.

I designed a simple exhibit space that begins with a short biography section and moves around the entrance area ending at a gift shop with some merchandise. The signage also follows the exhibit style. His landscapes and portraits occupy multiple rooms for his different major publications as well as a miniature theatre displaying animated projects he worked on.

I also designed and mocked up a bus advertisement, a coloring book as Giraud’s illustration style lends itself well to using solid colors, and two ticket styles.
